Rhythm + Excel Integration
Tired of re-entering data from a spreadsheet into your Actual values on your Rhythm goals every week? This integration does the data entry work for you so you can focus on getting the real work done!
Setting Up:
Here's how to get started using the Rhythm integration with Microsoft Excel:
- Ensure your company has opted into the Beta test (contact Help@RhythmSystems.com)
- Go to your Integration Library, find the Excel option, and click “Sign In With Microsoft” to connect your account
Using the Integration:
Once you've set everything up, you can pull updates from an Excel sheet into your Rhythm goals automatically.
- Add a new goal or edit an existing one. Expand the options under “Additional Details” to see the option to connect an Excel sheet:
- Check the boxes to select which properties on your Rhythm goal you want to populate from your Excel Sheet
- Choose the File, Worksheet, Column and Row for the data source for each property
- Save your updates. Typically, it takes a few minutes for the integration to load your data from Excel into your Rhythm goal.
Note: If you've connected an Excel file that has been shared with you instead of one that you own, your goal will be updated daily each night. If you've connected an Excel file you own, the updates will trigger anytime there is an update to the cells you've connected in your Excel file.
Goal Properties:
The following are the attributes you can connect from Excel to Rhythm. All of these properties are optional; map as many or few as you'd like depending on what information you want to populate from your spreadsheet automatically. The integration will not impact any properties you do not map.
- Status Color: You can map in a cell with the following values to update the color in Rhythm: supergreen | green | yellow | red | s | g | y | r
- Projected: the projected value in the goal update
- Actual: the actual value in the goal update
- Variance: the variance value in the goal update
- Comment: logs a comment in Rhythm along with the update
- Rank: must be a number (####.### format)
- SuperGreen Criteria: the SuperGreen Success Criteria for the goal
- Green Criteria: the Green Success Criteria for the goal
- Yellow Criteria: the Yellow Success Criteria for the goal
- Red Criteria: the Red Success Criteria for the goal
- Start Date: yyyy-MM-dd
- End Date: yyyy-MM-dd
- Description: additional description or information about the goal
- Quarter: provide the number for the quarter if you are mapping updates for a quarter that is not the current one (1 | 2 | 3 | 4)
- Year: provide the four-digit year if you are mapping updates for a year that is not the current year (YYYY)
You can download a template example with columns for these properties if you'd like. Most people who use this sheet map the cells in from data sources in various other sheets or files so there's just one cell constantly updating the relevant information for Rhythm.
Note: All settings for KPIs, Quarter Priorities, Annual Priorities, and Winning Moves will be respected. For example, if the goal is set for Auto Status Color, then the color will be ignored and auto-derived by Rhythm; or if Variance is set to Auto Calculate, the variance will be ignored and auto-calculated by Rhythm.
If someone manually updates a property connected via integration to the spreadsheet, that manual update will be overwritten by the data in the spreadsheet on the next update. Hover over the warning on the goal to see which properties are mapped:
